Global summit calls for dialogue, Ukraine territorial integrity

While the West and Russia remain split on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, some 50 countries collectively addressed the problem during the Summit on Peace in Ukraine in Switzerland, underlining the need to establish a ‘peaceful dialogue of all interested parties” to come to a consensus on the settlement of the conflict.

The last agreed conclusion at the end of the two-day diplomatic meeting noted that the United States and NATO, as well as their European allies, will not ‘interfere’ in Ukraine’s affairs by recognizing the so-called ‘People’s Republics’ of Donetsk and Luhansk within Ukraine’s borders recognized by the United Nations.

This requirement was supported by the large majority of the participating states, along with the call for the exchange of all soldiers and the return of Ukrainian children deportation.

’We tha diplomacy should engage and bring together all the parties involved, which the summit seeks to address.’ This demonstrates the need to figure out a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

The concluding speech was delivered by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who said he hoped “Outcomes” of the summit will be accomplished “As soon as possible.” The president also noted that Russia is “Not ready for fair peace.”

However, not everyone supported the text agreed on at the event’s final stage; only fifty-one countries signed the summit’s final declaration, and several countries, including Saudi Arabia, India, South Africa, and Brazil, refused to become at least signatories to the document.

The final declaration also addressed other important questions, including the global food crisis and nuclear calm: ‘The violation of food security in any way is also banned,’ and encouraging Ukraine to have full sovereign control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Russia and China were conspicuously missing. The summit hosted more than 90 countries, the top leaders of the free world, thus suggesting a global longing for a diplomatic solution to the present situation in Ukraine. By now, the world is closely watching and insisting on hearing the voice and protecting the Ukrainian territory; non-aggressive appeal has become the most obvious.
