Govt employee retires for ailing wife; she passes at farewell

A farewell party of a retiring government employee turned tragic as his wife died during his farewell party in Rajasthan’s Kota. A farewell party of a government employee became tragic as his ailing wife, for whom he decided to take early retirement, died in front of his eyes on the occasion.

The disturbing video of the incident in Rajasthan’s Kota came to the fore. Happy scenes and smiling faces adorned every place because both the husband and wife were decorated with garlands, and roses fell on the table in front.

But none there would have had even an inkling of that merry moment turning to become tragic as the news of the death of wife comes.

Devendra Sandal, a husband who worked as a manager in Central Warehousing Corporation, had taken retirement three years early to care for his ailing wife, Tina, a heart patient.

While people were enjoying the party, Tina said to her husband, “Mujhe chakkar aa rahe hain (I am feeling dizzy)”. He helped her back to sit in the chair and massaged her back.

The husband and others around were heard saying, “Paani la dena, paani (get some water, please)”.

The husband tried to extend support to her. However, she collapsed, followed by calls for water. “Chakkar aa rahe hain, paani pilao,” attendees shouted.

The doctors declared her dead when she was rushed to the hospital. She had been remaining unwell for quite some time, and because of that, her husband had decided on early retirement.
