This is a shocking mode of operation as a doctor practicing in Mumbai claimed that he found a human finger in an ice cream delivered to him online. This event that happened in Malad is causing much concern since it has exposed the quality of food supplied to customers, especially how well it is prepared.
So as the story goes, a young 26-year-old doctor with an MBBS degree, Orlem Brendan Serrao, had once ordered a packet of Butterscotch Ice cream through one of the leading delivery applications. While having the frozen dessert, he felt something was wrong in his mouth. He pulled out his tongue, and to his surprise and horror, he saw a human finger lodged in the ice cream.
When this did not elicit any reaction from the company, Serrao went online to report his case on the company’s official page on social media. Still, when he also did not hear any response, he reported the matter to the police authority.
That being said, according to statements from the police, the object was, indeed, a human finger and has been taken for further tests, which include using a forensic report to establish the origin and events surrounding the incorporation of this part in the ice cream.
The police have lodged an FIR about the ice cream company involved, and the investigation is commendable. This implication has now raised several questions on safety and integrity in the food distribution channels. Consumption is now filled with uncertainties, even for online food orders.
