Gujarat university hostel video scandal: Vice chancellor says “Government has taken this issue seriously”

Portally, rough videos of the University Gujarat campus have exposed a mob jeering students with sticks.

Footage taken in a cold way shows students with horrible faces running away in terror, as the criminals, plunging into an orgy of wrecking things the way they like, are beating everyone ahead of the flow. Vehicles were damaged, and missiles were virtually thrown at rooms inhabited by students from abroad, the news stated.

This horrifying event in Ahmedabad has triggered a chain of profound emotions among the academic community. The mob was not something the students could identify the nature of; therefore, they immediately started to run around rescuing themselves.

There are queries about whether security breaches enabled such bloodshed in the location for learning and education. Everyone, including policymakers and activists, debates that governance and policy should be tighter and harsher.

The VC was shocked and alarmed that somebody could carry out such a gross offense to life. The Government faces an even bigger challenge in re-uniting the students who lost their trust in the system and making sure that no one bears the fear of violence in the future.

Establishing a thorough and comprehensive investigation by walking up to the masterminds and accountability for the perpetrators is a requirement. Here, authorities should try to regain the trust of this university’s reputable community by the students who also formerly felt unwanted and not respected.

After that, the mounting tension is still evident. Because of that event, Gujarat University, traditionally known as the center of peace and academic learning, suffered a very big and painful blow to its reputation.
