A tragedy struck in Gurugram’s Sector 40 when two sisters, aged 23 and 21 years, respectively, died reportedly after falling from the fourth floor of a local businessman’s residence. The incident has created a lot of suspicion about the circumstances of their deaths.
According to the family of the house owner, the sisters fell from the balcony while trying to flee after what they described as a “theft attempt.” But the family of the deceased, who are identified as Chandni and Rashmi from Uttar Pradesh, suspect foul play, though no formal murder complaint has been submitted to the police.
Chandni had been working as a domestic help at the businessman’s house and had quit the job about a month ago. The two sisters were staying in the servant quarters of the house. The house owner said that he and his family were going to Khatu Shyam temple in Sikar, Rajasthan, on Friday and returned after some time when he realised that he had forgotten his medicine.
They had gone out but returned to find the main door ajar, after which they heard a loud thud. Rushing to the balcony, they found the sisters lying in a pool of blood downstairs. They were rushed to the nearby hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
The family of the house owner has suspected that the sisters might have gone inside the house, as Chandni knew the access code of the electronic lock. SHO at Sector 40 police station Lalit Kumar confirmed the bodies were released to the family after an autopsy and that police are reviewing CCTV footage from the residence in search of more information about the incident.
