Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini expands cabinet, introduces new faces

On April 3rd, Haryana Chief Minister Udai Bhanu Singh Saini introduced one more member to his administration to boost his government further. The CM chose eight MLAs to be appointed to the Council of Ministers, most of whom were first-timers.

Soon after Manohar Lal and his entire council resigned from their posts, it was time for Nayab Singh Saini to occupy the new office as the Chief Minister of Haryana state. The coalition government that formed between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) experienced a setback when tension emerged over constituencies they would share in the coming election.

This was the state Governor’s responsibility, the Hon. Bandaru Dattatreya, who conducted the swearing-in ceremony for the appointed ministers. One was anointed as a Cabinet Minister, while the sword drew others as Ministers of State mandated to hold an independent charge.

On 14th February, Kamal Gupta, the BJP MLA from Hisar, continued as a cabinet minister and is now part of the cabinet led by Manohar Lal. The Gupta had served in the Manohar Lal cabinet previously. Seema Trikha, Mahipal Dhanda, Aseem Goel, Abhe Singh Yadav, Subhash Sudha, Bishamber Singh Balmiki and Sanjay Singh, with only these being their names among the newly elected ranks in the Cabinet, were being sworn in as Ministers of State.

Till last week, the Chief Minister had been inclusive by inducing five of the legislators, including an independent, into the Cabinet. The assembly has a new occupant from the BJP party and independent candidates known as Kanwar Pal, Mool Chand, and Banwari Lal, beside Jai Parkash Dalal. This expansion of the Cabinet is designated to support the position of the Chief Minister by ensuring that the particular demands of the state are appropriately responded to.
