The heated debate over alleged NEET 2024 leaks in the Indian parliament

In a recent parliament sitting session, the opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stage a heated argument concerning the leaked alleged paper of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024.

Picking on the sentiments of the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Gandhi, he raised very serious and important issues of appalling standards of integrity in our examination system, which millions of students believe is fraudulent.

Therefore, Lukan said there is a very serious problem in our examination system, not only for NEET but also for all the major exams, and urged for a separate debate on the issue.

But to Gandhi’s allegations, Pradhan vehemently dismissed them, stating that there has not been any instance of paper leaks in the last seven years. Claiming that over 240 examinations have been held successfully after NTA, he said that the government has brought a new law to deal with malpractices in competitive examinations.

The clamor rose to a higher pitch when SP MP Akhilesh Yadav also entered the field and conveyed his disapproval regarding the government’s action in the matter. Yadav said some centers recorded over 2,000 students passing, contrary to procedures.

On the other hand, Yadav charged Pradhan with politicking for countering him, stating that he had a docketed paper leakage that occurred when the latter was the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

When the Congress MP Manickam Tagore asked whether the Minister would accept responsibility and think of resignation, Pradhan said,” I am at the mercy of my leader, that is the Prime Minister As, and when accountability comes, the government is collectively answerable to that. ”

The exchange of words was sharp and is perceived to have exposed the government’s inefficiency in dealing with the fledging doubts regarding the credibility of the examination system in India as a parliamentary responsibility. This debate is expected to continue for some time because this topic is still one of the major political issues and concerns in society.
