With the session starting on Monday, July 1, the second week of the 18th Lok Sabha session is likely to see Ministers steadily coming under attack from the opposition and Deputy Speakers engaging in heated exchanges over the paper leak of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the new recruitment model Agnipath and inflation.
Lok Sabha has set aside 16 hours for the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address, which will end with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reply on Tuesday. In Rajya Sabha, 21 hours have been allotted for the discussion, and the Prime Minister is expected to reply on Wednesday.
The first week of the Parliament session witnessed the ruckus created by the opposition parties regarding the NEET-UG exam paper leak issue. Parliament was plunged into more drama on Friday, with both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha suffering many adjournments as the Congress and the other opposition parties demanded a debate on the controversy involving NEET-UG.
Leaders of the opposition wanted to raise the matter of NEET-UG, Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, among others. Still, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha declined to allow the discussion as there was no other matter admissible when the House was to debate the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address.
