Horror in Jharkhand: Train runs over people near Jamtara Station, fatalities feared

Jamtara Train Accident: Twelve people have been crushed by a speeding train near Kala Jharia station in Jamtara state. A major train accident occurred in Jharkhand’s Jamtara on Wednesday after a train ran over the passengers at the Kalajharia railway station.

According to news agency ANI, several people are feared dead, though the exact number of deaths has not yet been confirmed. Deputy commissioner of Jamtara said medical teams and ambulances have been rushed to the spot.

Deputy Commissioner Jamtara said.

“A train ran over the passengers at Kalajharia railway station in Jamtara. Some deaths have been reported. The exact number of deaths will be confirmed later. Medical teams and ambulances rushed to the spot,”

“Two persons walking on the track were run over by the train at least 2 km away from train no. 12254 passing from Vidyasagar Kasitar. There is no incident of fire. As of now, two deaths have been confirmed. The deceased are not passengers; they are walking on the track. A 3-member JAG committee has been formed to enquire about the issue,” Kaushik Mitra, CPRO, Eastern Railway.

Anant Kumar, SDM Jamtara said.

“Two bodies have been recovered. We’ve requested Railways to start a helpline number. The reason will be known after investigation,”
