Hyderabad enforces month-long prohibitory orders: Police explain

Only peaceful dharnas and protests are allowed at Indira Park Dharna Chowk. Dharna is not permitted anywhere else in Hyderabad or Secunderabad.

Hyderabad Police on Monday issued prohibitory orders on procession, dharnas, and public meetings till November 28, PTI reported.

Reliable information has been given before him: several organizations/parties are trying to create disturbances that affect public peace and order in Hyderabad city by resorting to dharnas and protests, ” Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand told PTI.

According to the notification, individuals and collectives are not allowed to give speeches, gestures, or display pictures, symbols, placards, flags, or messages in electronic form that may disturb public peace and order within the limits of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Dharnas and protests are permitted only at Indira Park Dharna Chowk, and no dharna or protest will be conducted anywhere else in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, according to a notification issued here yesterday.

The public is now warned that any person violating these orders, particularly those related to the Secretariat and other sensitive areas, shall be liable for prosecution under appropriate penal provisions.

It said the order would be in force from October 27 at 6 PM to November 28 at 6 PM.
