IIT Delhi launches master’s program in healthcare technology

IIT Delhi has introduced a unique Master of Science (Research) program in ‘Healthcare Technology, exclusively designed for medical professionals and allied clinical fields. The new program will be offered at the Centre for Biomedical Engineering, IIT Delhi, starting January 2025. It will merge medicine concepts with advanced engineering disciplines in deep-tech innovations in the healthcare sector.

The MS (Research) in Healthcare Technology is unique because it’s project-centric, which assures practical experience for its students through real-world applications. Participants will be allowed to immerse themselves in clinical and industrial immersion with leading institutes and corporations, thus offering wide-based experience in both medicine and technology.

This program is designed with great flexibility to enable medical professionals to continue their clinical practice while pursuing higher studies. Core subjects and laboratory courses form part of the curriculum to adequately equip the students with the skills that the healthcare industry will demand from them. Scientific research training is also part of the curriculum and is applied in higher studies, the industry, or clinical laboratories.

The Fellowship/Remuneration package will be high-value and comparable to entry-level salaries and stipends for graduates in medical and allied disciplines in this program.

Besides, the program offers an easy transition into a PhD at IIT Delhi for candidates interested in pursuing PhD work, assuring long-term commitment to research and innovation in the biomedical sector.

These will fund innovative research projects in precision medicine, biomaterials, medical implants, medical imaging, rehabilitation, biomimetic models, and translational medicine.
