INDIA bloc gears up for mega Delhi rally against Kejriwal’s arrest.
The opposition INDIA bloc has announced a major rally in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 31 to protest the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in an alleged liquor scam case.
Addressing a press conference, AAP and Congress leaders said the ‘maha rally’ aims to protect democracy and the country’s interests amid claims of rising dictatorship.
Kejriwal was detained by the ED on March 21 and remanded to ED custody until the 28th for “questioning” in the case pertaining to alleged irregularities in Delhi excise policy.
AAP leader Gopal Rai hit out at the PM Modi government for adopting “dictatorship” and filing “fake cases” against opposition leaders one by one using agencies.
Delhi Congress chief Arvind Lovely stated the rally will not be political but will raise a voice for protecting democracy in the wake of the CM’s arrest and targeting of opposition ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
Last Friday, INDIA bloc members met EC, citing the absence of a “level playing field,” and submitted a memorandum featuring recent agency actions against opposition parties.
They accused BJP of unrelentingly deploying central agencies in a “blatant and illegal manner” to cripple opposition ahead of elections.
The upcoming mega gathering aims to rally people concerned over democracy and the constitution in the country.
