Hoax bomb threats at Indian airports and on planes have recently risen, which troubles the people and BCAS to think about more stringent actions.
Playing convenient with the intent of sending wrong alerts, the BCAS plans to give them a five-year flying ban. The director general of Bangladesh Computer Aid Society, Zulfiqar Hasan, discovered that six people were arrested lately for providing fake bombing threats.
The proposed measure will act as a powerful disincentive, as the existing maximum ban of six months is considered insufficient. These prank calls have detracted time, effort, and material, not to mention the mass colossal mobilization of security personnel, which has led to time decay and distress to the public.
Only this week, 46 airports and hospitals got bomb threat emails, threats there were explosions soon. Further, there is a threat to an IndiGo flight from Chennai to Mumbai as well.)
It is not just limited to the aviation sector as over 60 schools in Delhi NCR were recently also targeted with such fake Bomb threats restricting educational activities last month.
Officials have urged people to refrain from such false alerts because they are time-consuming and have safety implications. In furnishing false information in any document, the person can be imprisoned for up to two years or subjected to a fine.
This emerging threat, for instance the proposed five-year flying ban, should be effected and addressed as it makes efforts towards protecting the on-going and future tripartite airplanes to help in the safety and security of air travel in the country.
