India launches the first eye drops to replace reading glasses

The Drug Controller General of India(DCGI) has approved PresVu, India’s first eye drop formula for presbyopia. Entod Pharmaceuticals developed this unique product, which is focused on presbyopia, a vision impairment most common in people over 40.

PresVu functions with pilocarpine plant-derived, initiating its action in 15 minutes and continuing for up to 6 hours. It also showed results from clinical trials and proved useful in adults aged forty to fifty-five with presbyopia but without any significant levels of hyperopia. To be precise, it is of utmost importance to note that it can only be used under an ophthalmologist’s prescription.

Masurkar also pointed out that while PresVu is similar to other formulations available in the global market, it is particularly meant for Indian eyes. The eye drops also include a lubricating factor that is exceptional in that it can self-adjust according to the acidity of tears.

Entod plans to introduce PresVu into the Indian market by the end of the first week of October. The cost of each vial is ₹345. It has helped the company capture the growing market in India, and it plans to penetrate other markets, such as Southeast Asia and Africa, in the near future and anticipate future trends in the American market.
