India rejects Trudeau’s ‘not true’ claims on evidence in Nijjar case

According to unnamed sources, ANI reported that Canada’s approach has been to make “vague accusations” and place the burden of denial on India.

News agency PTI reported that sources in the Indian government have rejected the claims of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who, in a fresh statement on Monday amid a massive diplomatic row, accused India of backing criminal activities in Canada.

According to unnamed government officials, “assertions by Canadian officials that Canada presented credible evidence to India in the Sikh extremist Hardeep Singh Nijjar case is simply not true.”

It is absurd that after engaging the Indian High Commissioner to Canada last year, the Canadian government now chooses to target him, the sources said as quoted by PTI.

News agency ANI, citing faceless sources, said that Canada’s approach from day one has been to make “vague accusations” and put the onus of denial on India.

The sources further said that Justin Trudeau, at the press conference, said, ” The same old things for the same old reasons.”

Commenting on the press conference on Monday, Justin Trudeau blamed agents of the Indian government.

Monday of carrying out “secret information-gathering techniques, coercive conduct against Canadians, and participation in threatening and violent activities.”
