India, US deepen strategic partnership amid China concerns

This comes amid confirming India’s ties with the United States when the National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, met his counterpart, Ajit Doval, in New Delhi on Saturday.

The enhanced high-level engagement is also a continuation of the process to expand the already sản, diverse, complex global strategic partnership between the two countries.

Sullivan is the Assistant Secretary of Commerce & Industry, which is currently on a two-day official visit to India in the company of a delegation including senior US government personalities and industry representatives.

As to the nature of India’s NSA meetings with its counterpart, it was observed that the two NSAs often met regarding bilateral, regional, and global matters, indicating that the India-US cooperation is wide-ranging.

Since the Prime Minister of India and The President of the United States of America launched the India-US Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies (CET) last year, the NSAs have proactively initiated a joint effort towards mapping potential domains for future cooperation.

These industries include semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum, defense space, and OTA (advanced telecommunications).

Thus, during the ongoing visit, the NSAs assumed to assess the advancement concerning the iCET framework and work out the new targets and achievements. Other topics that could be touched on are Biotechnology, critical minerals, Rare Earth Elements processing, digital connectivity, and Advanced materials.

NSA Sullivan met External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar earlier that day and will reportedly meet with Prime Minister Modi later. The visit, therefore, ushers a new dimension into the bilateral relations of India and the US after Modi’s third term in office.

Interestingly, the interaction happened when the leaders PM Modi and President Biden had a bilateral meeting on the margin of the G7 Summit in Italy, during which they decided to strengthen the India-US ties and enhance cooperation, keeping in view China’s aggression in the Indo-Pacific region.
