Indian army drone inadvertently crosses LoC, lands in Pakistan

A medium-altitude Army tactical drone that was carrying out a reconnaissance mission strayed into Pakistani territory and crash-landed in the country, said sources. The Indian Army might carry out a dialogue with the Pakistan Army in regard to the occurrence of the event.

A tactical drone of the Indian Army crossed the Line of Control LoC from Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri sector and entered Pakistani territory on Friday, sources said. The Pakistani army was said to have recovered the drone.

The accident took place in the morning at about 9.30 a.m. It was reported that the Army drone at the time of the occurrence was on a reconnaissance mission.

The Indian Army may talk to the Pakistan Army at the level of the DGMO in order to manage the situation.

The mishap occurred two days after an IAF fighter aircraft suffered a technical failure that led to the accidental dropping of an ‘air store’ near the Pokhran firing range in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, according to the officials.

As authorities said, the object that has been released was a dummy bomb used in training exercises involving the dropping of bombs on specific targets. When it was launched, the practice bomb dropped in an open space, exploded, and made a small crater near the site in an area close to Pakistan, they said.

There were no deaths or losses of property. A probe was conducted to establish the root cause of the technical hitch that caused the air store to be released accidentally.

As it shall be seen, an air store in fighter jets means any external load or counterpoint of add-on and payload able to be attached to the said aircraft for diverse missions.
