A 40-year-old Indian doctor, Oumair Aejaz, has been accused of several sex offenses in the US and is being detained on a $2000000 bond. He was arrested on 8 August 2016 in Michigan for installing cameras in the bathrooms, changing rooms, hospital, and in his house, filming children from as young as two years in sexual positions.
The investigation was initiated when Aejaz’s wife handed over material that was suspicious to the authorities. He has no prior criminal record and was also said to have videotaped sexual abuse of women who were either unconscious or asleep. Sheriff Mike Bouchard testified that after analyzing thousands of videos seized at Aejaz’s house, there could be additional victims.
On 13 August, Aejaz was arraigned in court and charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity and several counts of taking obscene images of people who were naked. Some of the places he is accused of having conducted the offenses include a swimming club and hospital, a place where one can easily exploit the trust of families and patients.
Aejaz came to the USA for the study in 2011 and worked at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and Ascension Genesys Hospital. Law enforcement agencies are urging people who may have been victimized to report to the police as the probe continues.
