Without a single prior month in the United States, the South-Asian Damari Gopalkrishna was fatally shot on June 21 this year at a convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas.
Houston:
Police in the US and Texas recently arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 32-year-old Indian man in a Dallas convenience store robbery.
Damari Gopalkrishna is stated to have been shot dead at this convenience store in Pleasant Grove, Dallas, on June 21, although he had only moved to the US eight months ago.
He originally belonged to the Yamal village of Baxalta district, located in the Andhra Pradesh province of India.
Detectives have arrested a 21-year-old man, Davonta Mathis, accused of killing Gopalkrishna.
He stands indicted on a capital murder charge for shooting dead Gopalkrishna several times, including on the head.
During the robbery, Mathis goes inside the store, draws his gun, and fires at Gopalkrishna, who was behind the counter. It said that he retrieved items with the intent to steal but escaped when cornered by the police.
Gopalkrishna was terribly injured during the attack and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he passed away.
Mathis was arrested and charged with robbery, but this was later enhanced to capital murder due to the death of Gopalkrishna under the circumstances.
This is, of course, due to the fact that his bond is pre-set to the tune of USD 7.5 million.
