Intimidation and firing rock Lok Sabha Polls in inner Manipur

A series of incidents, including intimidations and firing, were recorded recently during the Parliamentary election in Inner Manipur SMC, causing a lingering debate over the transparency of the election process. Embracing guns, some proficient individuals unleashed uncertainty and disorder at different polling stations, with the goal of creating chaos and want. Therefore, they are free for democratic activity.

On one of these particular occasions, at Thamnapokpi, which was in the Moirang constituency of Bishnupur district, voters started running off to a safe place when people with firearms fired multiple rounds into the air near the polling booth. Subsequently, all the required security personnel were swiftly brought into the place of the incident to stop the chaos and then secure the vote immediately.

Some parallels were drawn in the pandemonium situation of Thanga and another ward, where fighting groups took over the polling booth and cornered party agents for boycotting voting for a certain party. The incidents happened in the Uripok, Imphal West and Iroishemba wards where the voters were intimidated. Drove by the harassment, some voters recklessly damaged the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and other election-related materials in those polling stations.

Apart from this, the other critical incident occurred in Kiyamgei, the constituency located in Keirao of Imphal East district, where armed men threw blank shots at the polling agents and communicated the threats of the Cong Through the process of structural and cultural unity, the foundation of European countries began to interconnect and develop complex relationships.

Inner Manipur constituency, Congress candidate Angomcha Bimol Akoijam filed a police complaint claiming his voting agent was caught off guard by raiding Ghan and arm individuals who removed him with weapons from the polling station.

These irregularities that entail acts of political violence and intimidation of voters are another means of undermining the democratic process and eroding the trust of the people in it. Political leaders and, of course, the public have demanded an immediate investigation of such seriousness that guarantees fairness in voting and the sanctity of democracy as the country’s culture.
