Jaishankar inaugurates India’s fourth consulate in Australia and interacts with dignitaries.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Australia on Sunday on the first leg of his two-nation tour.
In Brisbane, he formally inaugurated India’s fourth consulate, pledging to strengthen ties with Queensland state and serve the diaspora.
The consulate will aid trade promotion and educational linkages, Jaishankar said, thanking Queensland leaders for joining the ceremony.
He paid tributes at a park, noting Mahatma Gandhi‘s message of harmony resonates globally. Meeting Governor Jeannette Young, opportunities to boost economic and investment cooperation with Queensland were discussed.
In Canberra, Jaishankar will co-chair the 15th India-Australia Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with counterpart Penny Wong.
He will deliver the keynote at the Raisina Dialogue’s Australian edition in parliament, engaging leaders, MPs, business and thought leaders.
The visit aims to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership through high-level interactions across political, economic, and community aspects.
India’s deepening presence in Australia through such initiatives will aid policy coordination and regional development.
