After she was seen carrying a Rs 2-lakh Dior bag, religious preacher Jaya Kishori faced widespread backlash across the internet. Several internet sections criticized her for promoting Western culture by using Western accessories.
The preacher, known for her vocal stance against living a non-materialistic lifestyle, was seen carrying the designer “Dior Book Tote” with her name printed on it as she made her way through the airport.
The now-viral video has left viewers with a set of questions.
Kishori has always promoted a simple, earthy life in public appearances. Ironically, the lady who has been espousing such a simple lifestyle chooses to carry the luxury tote, which has set tongues wagging online, given that her messages often refer to respecting nature, animal life, and a minimalist lifestyle.
After the video started appearing, Kishori was attacked by online users. One made a sarcastic remark, saying, “She teaches you nonmaterialism.”
So that people could follow it, and that gives her an opportunity of sucking out the materialistic benefit out of that.”. At the same time, another answered, “Because she’s saying so, it means we should scrutinize before selecting any speaker, and then let only the right speakers be required. Because one never behaves according to what she says, she’s not proper for being the speaker.
Users also observed that Kishori posted this video of herself at the airport, and after some backlash, she deleted it.
Some users even pointed out the pricey jewelry she wore in it, including an expensive Rolex watch, suggesting that a comparison needs to be made between her teaching and living standards.
