Spiritual speaker Jaya Kishori has responded to the outrage over her latest public sighting with a custom Dior bag costing over ₹2 lakh. The 29-year-old preacher was clicked at an airport toting the custom Dior “Book Tote,” which immediately went viral, dividing followers and detractors in admiration and criticism.
I am a normal girl, living in a normal house with my family. I motivate the youth to work hard, earn money, and provide a good life for themselves and their families while fulfilling their dreams,.
She clarified the nature of the bag and said, “My Dior “Book Tote” is a custom-made piece sans leather. “This bag is specially made according to my wishes, and my name is inscribed. I have never used leather and will not in the future. Those who attend my ‘Katha’ know that I do not propound the idea that everything is ‘moh maya’ or that one should renounce all material pursuits,” she added.
The viral pictures raised questions among a section of her followers as to her authenticity as a spiritual leader preaching detachment to material wealth. A user wrote on X, “Spiritual preacher Jaya Kishori deleted her video where she was carrying a Dior bag worth ₹2,10,000. By the way, she preaches non-materialism and claims to be a devotee of Lord Krishna.”
She responded to the criticism, saying, “I have not renounced anything. So, how could I advise others to do so? From the beginning, I have clarified that I am not a saint, sadhu, or sadhvi.”
Kishori has many followers on social media. On Instagram alone, she has over 12.3 million followers, reflecting her massive popularity as a spiritual singer and preacher.
