In a shocking development, which happened within a few hours of his arrival from Germany on a flight, the Janata Dal (Secular) Member of Parliament Prajwal Revanna was arrested at the Bengaluru airport on Friday morning. Talking about the political situation, Revanna, accused in a sex tapes case, has been absconding since the entire issue surfaced.
The arrest was made by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by the Karnataka Police regarding the cases against the JD(S) leader. The arrest team was headed by a woman IPS officer and consisted of five women police officers, symbolically depicting the severity of the charges leveled against the three accused women.
The SIT has decided to consider carrying out a potency test on Revanna as part of its probe into the matter. They are also actively seeking to ascertain the main gadget that was allegedly used in recording the obscene videos that are in circulation. Investigators believe that it was disposed of, which may attract another charge of interfering with witnesses to be made against the MP.
A respondent is a man called Revanna, who was eyeing re-election from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency in NDA and fled to an unknown foreign country in April when the scandal broke out. The tape that featured the actor included numerous video clips that were said to depict him molesting several women.
The development sits as a major blow to the JD(S) leader, who is is facing three different cases of rape instituted against him. Taking the stand for himself, Arun G., his lawyer, said that Revanna returned to India to participate in investigation and all the cases are “false”.
More shockingly, the SIT has also issued arrest warrant on the mother of Revanna, Bhavani Revanna for kidnaping, she has been asked to appear before for questioning on June 1. This still piles up more legal woes to the cloud surrounding the_REMOVEDuzzle scratched MP.
In Hassan, which seems to have been affected by the ever-growing sex tape scandal involving the couple, Revanna had reportedly entered the Lok Sabha elections contest. Mr. Gandhi’s Congress party had followed a hostile line against JD(S) leader claiming that he was involved in ‘political conspiracy.’
Taking into consideration the arrest of Revanna and the current legal prospects he awaits in the future, the elections in Hassan in 2024 will be quite competitive, however the scandal with the sex tape is likely to follow the candidates very closely.
