However, in a rather terrible case, a woman who hails from Kolkata took a flight to Abu Dhabi on a short trip and was sexually abused by a top official of a Jindal group company. The man accompanied the woman, who founded an organization concerned with menstrual rights and posted her story on social media to receive attention from the chairperson of the company.
As per the woman’s testimony, a man who was sitting beside her, Dinesh Kr Saraogi, working as a senior executive in Jindal Group company, exposed himself to her and made her watch pornography on his cell phone and also green-socked her. The crew of Etihad Airways acted correctly, reacted to the situation, helped the woman, and informed the police from Abu Dhabi.
Jindal Steel and Power Ltd’s chairperson, Naveen Jindal, also a BJP MP, told the woman that the matter would be worked up as soon as possible and that harsh action would be taken against the executive.
The woman, who later posted her story on a social network, expressed her hope that the case would not remain ‘on paper’ and would be prosecuted so that such an experience would be avoided in the future.
This perverse event has again raised the need for careful measures to establish efficient ways of handling the menace of harassment, especially in areas of public transport and during the journey. It is believed that this case will attract everybody’s attention as the investigation progresses.
