The erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir was turned into a Union Territory in 2019 after Article 370, which granted the state a special status, was abrogated.
He said, “Jammu and Kashmir is a Union Territory. We shall have to accept that reality. The PM and the Home Minister have said in parliament that delimitation should be first, elections second, and statehood at the appropriate time.”

Sinha commented on the delay in the Panchayat and urban local body elections, saying these polls had to be postponed due to some constitutional issues.

“Now Parliament has passed it, I am sure preparations are being made for those polls in coming days,” he added.
