Junior doctor allegedly raped by colleague in Gwalior

A 25-year-old junior doctor was allegedly raped by a colleague in an abandoned hostel at Gajraraja Medical College in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, police sources said on Monday.

The alleged assault took place on Sunday and the accused, also 25, was taken into custody on Monday. The victim, who was preparing for an examination, was staying in the girls’ hostel of the medical college.

The accused, who studied with the victim, lured her to the derelict boys’ hostel, according to City Superintendent of Police Ashok Jadon. He allegedly committed the assault after she reached there and threatened her.

A complaint filed by the victim at the Kampu police station led to the arrest of the suspect, who was booked under relevant legal provisions. Authorities have confirmed that the case is well under investigation and that all underlying circumstances will be made known.
