Tensions Rise Ahead of Planned AAP Protest at BJP Headquarters.
Against the backdrop of rising political friction, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has alleged the BJP is systematically targeting AAP through “Operation Jhaadu”. Claiming the ruling party wants to curb its growth, he stated top leaders will face arrest and bank accounts will be frozen.
As AAP plans to demonstrate outside BJP HQ following aide Bibhav Kumar’s arrest, Kejriwal cautioned of similar detention after LS polls. He questioned the flurry of allegations leveled at his government since 2015.
The protest call stems from “sending AAP leaders to jail one after another,” said Kejriwal after receiving interim bail in an excise case. Asserting the party will peacefully march and wait for half an hour for arrests, he challenged taking all members into custody won’t weaken AAP’s resolve.
Given the planned DDU Marg protest today, police have stepped up security at the BJP office as a precaution. Traffic flow is likely to remain heavy, and the road may be closed between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Commuters have been advised to avoid the route.
A senior officer remarked that protections are enhanced as political temperatures rise. Protests remain a democratic right, though law and order will be prioritized, say police, who aim to defuse tensions through open communication with all sides.
