Citing survey findings, Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal expressed confidence that the Opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc will secure over 300 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha, paving the way for forming the next government.
“The findings of many surveys indicate that on June 4, the INDIA bloc is going to get over 300 seats,” Kejriwal stated during a digital press conference from his residence, adding that the bloc is progressing and on track to provide a “clean and stable government.”
The statement comes days before Delhi’s seven Lok Sabha constituencies go to polls in the sixth phase on May 25. AAP, a key INDIA bloc constituent, is contesting four seats in alliance with the Congress party. In the previous two general elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had swept all seven seats in the national capital.
As the high-stakes electoral battle intensifies, top leaders from various parties have campaigned vigorously in Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath (BJP), Kejriwal, and Rahul Gandhi (Congress) addressed rallies in the city ahead of the May 23 campaigning deadline.
Kejriwal did not hold back his criticism of the BJP leadership, slamming Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his remarks during a recent rally in Delhi. “Not even 500 people attended Amit Shah’s rally,” he alleged, accusing Shah of abusing the people of the country and Delhi by labeling AAP supporters as “Pakistani.”
Rejecting the allegations, Kejriwal highlighted AAP’s electoral successes across various states, questioning whether the people who voted for the party were also deemed “Pakistani.”
Furthermore, Kejriwal took aim at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who had criticized him during a rally in Delhi. “I want to tell Yogi that his real enemies are in his party [BJP],” Kejriwal said, suggesting that Modi and Shah had plans to remove Adityanath.
As the high-stakes electoral battle reaches its crescendo, Kejriwal appealed to the public to vote for the INDIA bloc, stating, “Vote for INDIA to save India. Vote for INDIA for the development of India.”
The upcoming Lok Sabha election has witnessed intense campaigning from all major political forces, with each side making bold claims and counter-claims as the nation eagerly awaits the outcome on June 4.
