Kejriwal questions RSS on BJP’s use of central agencies

Carrying forward his campaign against the Centre, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday asked the RSS to clarify its stand on the BJP’s tactics of using central agencies to castrate Opposition parties.s. This comment came in the first ‘Janata Ki Adalat’ public gathering after Kejriwal had resigned from his post.

During his visit to Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal asked five very sharp questions to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. He raised alarm over what he described as Modi’s strategies to dismantle political parties and remove governments through pressure and blackmail using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Kejriwal also accused the BJP of harboring tainted leaders whom it brandished as corrupt in the past and asked Bhagwat if the organization supported corrupt practices.

To this, Kejriwal focused on the relationship between the RSS, which he said is the BJP’s parent organization, and the party, adding that the RSS needs to keep the BJP in check. He quoted the words of BJP president JP Nadda, who recently hinted that the BJP does not need the RSS’s assistance anymore, and asked if resentment towards the organizational parentage was correct.

Kejriwal also criticized the party’s policies on restrictions on the age of political icons; though a retirement age of 75 was fine with them, it did not dawn on them to do the same for Modi.

Arvind Kejriwal was recently freed from Tihar Jail and got bail from the Supreme Court in a corruption case related to Delhi’s new excise policy. Kejriwal again recalled wanting to serve the country, not become a ruler. He said the Delhi Assembly elections were the next general test of his character, asking the electorate to ignore him if they found him dirty.

As for the future, he said he would leave the chief minister’s official residence after Navratri Shraddha and intend to live amongst the people who sheltered him.
