In a recent development, Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will be moving out of his official residence in Civil Lines within a week. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) member of Parliament Sanjay Singh announced this on Wednesday.
Kejriwal resigned soon after his release from Jail. Just a day later, he acted as chief ministerial candidate, though he was on bail in the excise policy case. In less than four weeks of political change, AAP’s Atishi has become the newly elected Chief Minister.
Although party leaders expressed their concern about Kejriwal’s security, Singh observed that the latter remained determined and did not change his mind about moving out of the residence. They tried to reason with him and explain that there are dangers since there have been attacks on him in the past, but he is adamant that he will not be harmed, as Singh told PTI.
In another statement, Kejriwal appealed to the Election Commission to conduct the assembly election in November.
Kejriwal’s harassment started with his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 on charges of corruption in an excise policy case, which was followed by his arrest again by the CBI on June 26.
On the other hand, AAP MP Sanjeev Kumar has described Kejriwal’s arrest as a BJP conspiracy to make Kejriwal resign and destabilize AAP. He further continued that the BJP blundered again as Kejriwal was released, showing that there weren’t any major corruption charges against him. Mr Pathak clarified that Kejriwal had no option but to resign, as was inaccurately portrayed by the media.
