Kejriwal’s bail plea rejected, AAP to move Supreme Court

In a major jolt to AAP today, the Delhi High Court put paid to Kejriwal’s bail plea and dismissed the petition against the CBI’s arrest in the alleged liquor policy scam.

Kejriwal can approach the trial court himself, as the high court has declined his petition, stating that he must go to the trial court first for remedy.

As mentioned by the AAP sources, the party is now planning to approach the Supreme Court in search of justice for its chief. This follows Kejriwal’s earlier arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March, a few weeks before the scheduled 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He has now been incarcerated for a total of 115 days while the Supreme Court secured regular bail in the ED case on July 12.

In the high court proceedings, Kejriwal’s senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi lambasted the CBI’s case, saying it was based on hearsay and presumptions and not material TO.

Regarding the bail, Singhvi said that Kejriwal was eligible to be bailed out and asserted that this was an ‘insurance arrest’ because he had been bailed out regarding the ED case.

However, the CBI underlined that it had established a cash trail of ₹ 44 crore in the case, stating that some of the money was sent to Goa. It also claimed that Kejriwal told his candidates not to worry about the money and to contest the election.

Meanwhile, the political confrontation has intensified. The AAP has threatened to continue the legal process to the Supreme Court so as to have Kejriwal released from detention and cleared in the current issue of liquor policy.
