Kejriwal’s health crisis sparks political feud in Delhi

Political vindictiveness continues to soar due to the health status of AAP’s Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, who is in a CBI case. This is despite the Aam Aadmi Party AAP alleging that Kejriwal’s blood sugar has been below 50 on several occasions, eight to be precise, which left him on the precipice of a coma.

The AAP has alleged that the BJP is planning to ‘eliminate’ Kejriwal. In support of its claim, Delhi L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena has instructed the Tihar jail authorities to look into the chief minister’s health closely.

Listing his complaints in a letter to the Chief Secretary, L-G Saxena has directed the prison authority to ensure that Kejriwal takes his prescribed diet and insulin doses on time. The letter includes a prison superintendent’s report that accused Kejriwal of practicing hunger with several cases of eating low calories in the notice of home-cooked meals.

The as of now proposed report also depicts a drastic reduction in weight loss from 63. Originally it was 5 kg on the date of surrender (June 2, 2024) to 61. 5 kg currently. The L-G has claimed that the glucometer test differs by a great margin from the CGMS results and requested validation from the medical departments.

The AAP, nevertheless, has not responded to the accusations raised by the L-G; Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has questioned the L-G letter. ‘What type of joke are you making, L-G, sir? Would a man lower his sugar levels at night?’ Singh wrote on the micro-blogging site X.

The main opposition has accused the BJP of plotting to ‘’kill’’ Kejriwal, with Delhi minister and AAP leader Atishi warning of the effects that his worsening health could have, including a stroke or brain damage.

While the dispute over Kejriwal’s health worsens, the case has again spotlighted this intensifying conflict of power between the Delhi government and the L-G, where the latter is alleged to have exceeded his authority and victimized the state’s head of government.
