When Kejriwal said he would resign as Delhi’s Chief Minister within two days and campaign in the “people’s court,” the BJP reacted quickly, suggesting this move could be due to infighting in the AAP. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva condemned Kejriwal, saying corruption has eroded the leadership in Delhi.

Trivedi also wondered why Kejriwal had to resign in the Zapad fury, wondering if there was some tension between Kejriwal on the one side and the two other members of the faction on the other side.

These feelings were also reflected by Delhi BJP chief Manoj Sachdeva, who said that after a decisive verdict from the public in the recent Lok Sabha elections, the AAP chief had sought a public verdict on him. “I said it; the people have already spoken,” he said, pointing at various shortcomings in the government, such as forty children who died due to poor drainage control.
The ruling Congress, which had an alliance with AAP in the Lok Sabha polls, described Kejriwal’s resignation move as a political stunt. In defense of Kejriwal, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the Chief Minister has always had faith in the public and has taken daring ventures throughout his career.
