Kerala MLA PV Anvar arrested over forest office attack

Earlier in the day, independent MLA PV Anvar targeted the state government and the forest department for the death of the tribal man Mani, who was trampled by a wild elephant on Saturday evening.

Police arrested Nilambur legislator PV Anvar on Sunday on charges of allegedly ransacking the District Forest Office (DFO) after a protest over the death of a tribal man in an elephant attack here.

Earlier in the day, independent MLA PV Anvar lashed into the state government and the Department of Forest relating to the death of tribal man Mani, who fell prey to death on Saturday after getting tramped upon by a wild elephant.

Alleging negligence by wildlife personnel in the issue of man-animal conflicts in the area, protesting workers of the Democratic Movement of Kerala (DMK) led by MLA alleged the forest office of negligence. The workers entered the North DFO office and vandalised the office room, nearly 10 of them.

Nilambur police booked PV Anvar and 10 others over the incident under various sections of the BNS and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
