Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, in a video released by the banned Sikhs for Justice outfit, has warned of an attack on November 16 and 17.
Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun warned of attacks on Hindu temples, including the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. In a video issued by the banned Sikhs for Justice outfit, Pannun threatened an attack on November 16 and 17. The video was reportedly shot in Brampton, Canada, to incite violence against Hindu places of worship.
Pannun said in that statement, “We will shake the foundations of Ayodhya, the birthplace of the violent Hindutva ideology” — a direct threat to one of the most sacred sites in India. Images pop up of Prime Minister Modi praying in the Ram Temple during its inauguration this January. Pannun has also issued warnings for Indians in Canada to stay away from Khalistani attacks on Hindu temples.
Pannun has called for Khalistan in the name of attacks on Indian diplomats, which would signal a larger, more explicit attempt to stir unrest and tension within Indian and expatriate communities.
Pannun’s organization, the SFJ, has been associated with various anti-India activities to pursue its idea of Khalistan. Pannu has issued several incendiary statements aimed at destabilizing communal harmony.
Pannun was designated as a terrorist under the UAPA in July 2020. The government of India has also issued multiple warrants for his arrest. However, he continues to function from the United States and Canada.
Various attacks on Hindu temples and threats to the Hindu community from radical Khalistani elements have increased manifold in recent years. Increased vandalism, hate graffiti on the walls of temples, and public threats are also included against the community.
