Kolkata doctor’s rape-murder case: New autopsy details emerge

It is instructive to note that the postmortem of the Kolkata-based doctor who was raped and murdered has denied the rumor making rounds on social media with reference to some reports stating the presence of 150 grams of semen or 150 mg of the substance on the deceased’s person.

In fact, the postmortem report has made it clear that the said 150 grams relate to the weight of the uterus, which is said to be the interior genital organ, and not the weight of any fluid.

As per the practice of the forensic scientists and doctors, the weight of the organs is always recorded in such formats; therefore, the 150 grams is relative to the measurements of the organs, not in mL, a senior forensic scientist who has perused the post-mortem report said to News18.

About the incident of the brutal killing of a young doctor in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, News18 has received an exclusive postmortem and investigation report that may create doubt over the rumors and social media blabbermouth about the amount of semen collected from the bodies of the victims.

The post-mortem was performed by a team of three physicians, including at least two lady forensic scientists—physicians. The team had two doctors from RG Kar Medical College and one from NRS Medical College.

The forensic team, which reached the crime scene nearly five hours after the event, observed that the fluids congealed into a smear. They took samples on the surface of the affected areas and the liquid, but there was no fluid because it had clotted.

The collected samples, including such things as blood, semen, and vaginal swabs that might remain undamaged, were sent to The Central Forensic Laboratory in Kolkata on August 12 only three days after the crime was committed.
