Kolkata police foil attack on protesting junior doctors

Kolkata police on September 14 said that they averted planned violence against junior doctors demonstrating near Swasthya Bhavan, the West Bengal health ministry’s headquarters. The two people were arrested together with several others, with the police alleging that the act was a conspiracy by ‘outlaws. ‘

The rape and murder of a young female trained doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital was a recent incident that sparked these protests. The protesting medics are seeking justice for the victim, more security measures in state hospitals, and the dismissal of senior health officials.

Bidhannagar Deputy Commissioner of Police Aneesh Sarkar said intelligence information pointed to an attack on doctors on strike. ”In one of the viewers, you significantly captured an audio message that showed conspiracy between two people,” he said. Once it was confirmed that the clip was genuine, the police reported a case and subsequently apprehended the two culprits. Sanjeev Das agreed to the news channel report, which said that his voice was in the recording.

Earlier in the day, the protesting doctors tried to stage a sit-in protest with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to present her with their demands concerning the situation in RG Kar. However, the meeting could not go on by 9 PM IST due to the doctors’ demand that all discussions go live for fairness.

However, to express her solidarity, the Chair of West Bengal and the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee went to the protest site to assure the doctors. “I can feel for you; I have been a student leader, too. Let me take your complaints to the next authorities. Those responsible will be penalized,” she told the gathering.

The victim’s mother said about the talks: Though she agreed to use this word, she did that with a certain apprehension. While appealing for justice, Kerny was not satisfied with the assurance that the chief minister would serve justice. She considered that the chief minister should have been more forthcoming in her statement, given the tampered evidence and the low number of arrests that were made.
