A tragic bus accident in Maharashtra’s Gondia district has killed at least 10 people and left more than two dozen injured. The accident took place on November 29, when a bus traveling from Bhandara to Gondia lost control and overturned near Bindravana Tola village on the Gondia-Arjuni road.
The state transport bus, which had started from Nagpur, was carrying passengers when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the tragic overturning. Emergency services, including police vans, ambulances, and cranes, were quickly sent to the scene to help the injured.
About 25 people were reportedly injured and taken to Gondia District Hospital for medical treatment. Eight bodies were reported to have been recovered from the scene, and the death toll was said to be likely to increase.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has also directed the Transport Administration to provide immediate financial assistance of Rs 1 million (Rs 10 lakh) for the victims. The Chief Minister’s office issued a statement where it confirmed that all means were being taken to arrange proper medical care for all the injured.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. “It is very unfortunate that a Shivshahi bus met with an accident near Sadak Arjun in Gondia district, resulting in loss of life. My heartfelt respects go to the deceased, and we share the grief of their families,” he posted on social media platform X.
Fadnavis also emphasized the importance of immediate medical care for the injured, suggesting that they be taken to private hospitals if needed. He instructed Collector of Gondia to arrange for any transfers required to Nagpur. Senior officials have reached the spot to manage the relief process and the state will keep an updated check on the situation.
