Maharashtra polls: Mahayuti sweeps, MVA manages two seats

It can be quite hailed, taking into account that the Maharashtra Legislative Council seats were hotly contested. The Mahayuti alliance of Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP clinched all nine seats they fought fiercely for. For the opposition, the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA), which had fielded candidates for three seats, emerged victorious only in two out of them.

Both political alliances had a very competitive clash in the election, which was considered a warm-up to the state assembly elections. In view of this, all the Mahayuti candidates crossed the required 23 votes each to win, with the BJP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) coming out on top.

The first major setback for the MVA was the loss of Jayant Patil, an exponent of the Peasants and Workers Party, which has the backing of NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. In any case, the NCP was able to get both its nominees to the post of the President’s ship, even the faction郑重地带 led by Ajit Pawar.

Its leaders in the Mahayuti have attributed this victory to Devendra Fadnavis of the BJP, whose numerology has prevailed for them three times in a row. The stated result may have far-reaching political consequences, especially now that the state is preparing for the assembly election.
