Maldives President congratulates PM Modi on NDA’s election win

The current diplomatic environment is incredibly nuanced, which is further evidenced by the fact that the Maldives’ President, Mohamed Muizzu, has congratulated PM Narendra Modi and the BJP-led NDA coalition on their path-breaking performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. It’s the third term of the NDA government, and this is because the people of India continue to have faith in Narendra Modi’s abilities.

Muizzu, in his tweet on X (previously Twitter), voiced his desire to cooperate with PM Modi, saying,

“I eagerly look forward to developing a partnership to work together for mutually beneficial cooperation and enhanced stability for our two countries. ”

This remains so, even when relations between India and The Maldives have not been smooth sailing.

PM Modi responded positively, asserting the Maldives’ position as a ‘strategic and sovereign neighbour in the Indian Ocean Region’ and looking forward to enhancing bilateral relations for closer cooperation.

As seen during the recent 2024 Lok Sabha election, the BJP maintained superiority, and the subsequent 240 seats came from the single-party government and 292 from the NDA alliance. This achievement will enable the formation of a coalition government at the Centre. The INDIA alliance performed exceedingly well, while the Congress party performed remarkably.
