Mamata vows to ‘Hang’ doctor’s Killer, if needed, Amid outrage

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated that to punish the accused involved in the Kolkata trainee doctor murder case, the mandate involves hanging and added that the case should be sent to the fast-track court.

Post-graduate trainee doctor’s death at RGKMCH leads to uproar, Mamata Banerjee says; ‘if needed, the accused would be hanged’. They should schedule the case for hearing, and she told the court that she had instructed for the case to be prioritized.

The trainee residential medical practitioner was found dead in the state-owned hospital’s seminar hall last Friday. After this, junior doctors protested the incident, seeking to have justice for the lady who was attacked.

Labeling the event as unfortunate, Banerjee stated that the arrested accused persons were employees of the hospital. She added that she had conferred with the family of the trainee doctor and informed them of the appropriate action to be taken on the matter.

First of all, let it be noted that this occurrence is quite unfortunate and utterly reprehensible. This, I feel, is like experiencing a loss in my own family. Their (doctors’) anger and demand is understandable. I support it. Constables and sub-inspectors have also accepted their demands,” Banerjee added.

Hanging is evident if needed, but it should be the strictest punishment, said the honorable minister of law and order, and she has directed the case to be taken to a fast-track court.

To the demonstrators, if they are of the opinion that they do not trust the state administration, they can go to any other police station they wish to do so. Fine, let proper investigation be conducted and tough punishment meted out to the culprits, she said.
