Man gives triple talaq in moving train, sparks outrage

In a shocking incident, a man gave triple talaq to his wife while they were traveling on a moving train near Jhansi Junction on April 29. The man, identified as Mohammad Arshad (28), reportedly beat his wife Afsana (26) before abruptly pronouncing the divorce and getting off the train.

Afsana, left distraught by the sudden events, immediately sought help from the Government Railway Police. She was then returned to Pukhrayan in Kanpur Dehat, her initial destination, before boarding the train to Bhopal.

Following the incident, an FIR was lodged, and a manhunt was launched to apprehend the accused. Arshad, a computer engineer employed in Bhopal, had married Afsana, a graduate from Kota, Rajasthan, earlier this year through a matrimonial advertisement.

The situation escalated when Afsana discovered that Arshad was already married during a visit to his ancestral house. The couple faced additional hardships as Arshad and his mother allegedly harassed Afsana for dowry.

Afsana, in a viral video, has appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for assistance and action against those who abandon women after divorce. Circle Officer Priya Singh confirmed the registration of a case against Arshad and his family members based on Afsana’s complaint.
