Manipur violence: tense situation leads to college closures

Members of Congress demanded Union home minister Amit Shah to look into reports of participation brought about by Illegal Immigrants, foreign influences and drug syndicates into the disturbances.

During the operating conflict in Manipur, the Manipur government has restricted the internet for five days and placed the curfew in three districts to maintain public security and discourage fake news.

The Congress has demanded intervention from Union home minister, to address the situation and pave way for corrective measures with which security forces should take some action to control law and order situation.

There two feuding groups are Meitei and Kuki and both groups have been fighting from last year after the court order asked the state to provide the Kukis reserved economical facilities and quota in job and education and extend the same for the Meiteis as well.

Singh added that Congress MP from Inner Manipur, A Bimol Akoijam, has also written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and urged investigation into allegations of involvement by illegal immigrants, the foreign elements, and the illicit drug MAFIA in the ongoing violence.

HIGHER education department has announced has ordered both government and private colleges in state to remain shut on September 11 and 12. This decision has been made at a time when people are protesting in their large numbers for peace in the war torn state.

For the past few months Manipur, including Moreh has experienced sharp rise in violence comprising drone and rocket attacks and hence the state police has deployed the anti-drone systems in the area. Moreh police is on the process of procuring anti-drone systems and guns as well.
