Manohar Lal Khattar quits: the BJP’s survival strategy in Haryana is exposed.

Political confusion has seized Haryana now after its CM, Manohar Lal Khattar, submitted his resignation to the state Governor today. The recent situation exhibits the deteriorating relationship between the BJP and its partner JJP, which exists under the leadership of Dushyant Chautala.

With the linchpin alliance looking highly precarious, many wondered what failing it would spell for the BJP government. Even though the party of saffron might look derailed at the current moment, they have a contingency plan to weather the storm.

Feeling the support of JJP’s 10 MLAs, the BJP started approaching the other independent representatives and the HLP MP. If it gets the deputies’ nod, the party will vault directly to second place with 24 seats in the 90-member House.

On the ground, high-ranking BJP leaders such as Tarun Chugh have given clear instructions on the durability of policies. For instance, the level of support Rawat has received from the Independent MLAs, including those of Nayan Pal Rawat, has already been a confirmation of keeping his support for Khattar.

The BJP is boosted by the support of MLAs who have offered to stand with the BJP irrespective of the alliance. Kanda pledged to be with the BJP even if the existing JJP-BJP alliance does not survive. This way, the opposition demonstrates that the government is not determined to work for the people.

While resignations today may point to issues ahead, the BJP could outsmart the opposition with its political manoeuvring, which might become a key factor in its retention of power for now. It has become murkier than ever as the parties now start the final count to have a hold on Haryana’s important political terrain.

It is a fact that in the next few days, we will reach a very interesting scenario in which wheeling and dealing and addition and subtraction of numbers will decide who will succeed Khattar.
