A shocking incident has been reported from the city of Dewas in the state of Madhya Pradesh wherein a married man is accused to have killed his live-in girlfriend and kept the body inside a refrigerator for eight months. The gruesome revelation was made when police found Pinky Prajapati, a decomposing body, covered in a saree with both hands tied from behind, at a rented house owned by accused Sanjay Patidar on Friday.
The crime had taken place in June of the previous year. Prajapati was said to have been in a live-in relationship with Patidar for five years. It was reported that she was forcing him to marry her; the tragic end resulted from this. The police believe that the murderer involved is Patidar, a resident of Ujjain, and he did this with his friend’s help.
The Dewas Superintendent of Police, Puneet Gehlot, said that neighbors reported a foul smell coming from the house and that they had informed the landlord. Upon opening a portion of the house, the landlord discovered the body stored in a refrigerator with all the shelves taken off. He immediately informed the police.
Patidar, who hailed from Indore, had rented the house June 2023 from the owner Dhirendra Shrivastava. He vacated it after a year but left some of his belongings in the master bedroom and study room, stating that he would go to pick them up later.
In the recent developments, the sitting tenant requested access to the locked portion of the house. When the landlord tried to show it, he found Patidar’s belongings still inside and so switched off the power supply. The refrigerator stopped functioning, and that is how the body was discovered as the stench increased in the neighborhood. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
