On Monday morning, a huge fire outbreak occurred at Darrow Compound, Lajpat Nagar, a hospital in South Delhi. The firefighting services quickly tackled the situation.
The blaze was reported at around 11:6:30 am at one of India’s largest emerging chain hospitals called the Eye 7 Hospital at Lajpat Nagar, a burgeoning market area. From the ground floor of the multi-story hospital building, greyish-black colored smoke stretches to the sky, combined with flames racing through the structure.
Earlier, officials reported that, after a massive fire broke out at the godown, nearly 12 firefighting engines were mobilized at the site to prevent the fire from escalating further. Law enforcement officers and firefighters did not relent in their efforts to extinguish the fire and minimize the situation.
Happily, as the fire department official testified, there were no deaths or serious injuries in the whole episode. An investigation is being conducted to determine the cause and magnitude of the fire that caused the property damage.
Some of the witnesses said that it was a terrible sight to behold (hospital staff members and admitted patients had to be evacuated as the fire continued to burn). People in and around the area also descended to the scene to help those inside the building and ensure they were safe.
They have further led to debates concerning safety measures and possible disasters in healthcare facilities in this city. Law enforcement officials have vowed to investigate the occurrence of the fire to its completion and expressed utter determination to implement appropriate punitive measures on any personnel who may have been acts of professional recklessness or carelessness in the cause of their duties.
