Medical report on Arvind Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels released sparks controversy

Raj Niwas released the medical status report regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels on Saturday. The report, submitted by the Director General (Prisons) to Lieutenant-Governor V.K. Saxena, stated that the examining doctors deemed Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels not alarming and that there was no immediate need for insulin administration.

According to the report, Kejriwal underwent medical examinations on multiple occasions between April 3 and April 16. Since April 1, the Chief Minister has been held in Tihar Jail.

The release of the report reignited a war of words between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Lieutenant Governor. The AAP accused the BJP and the L-G of endangering Kejriwal’s life, while the opposition dismissed the allegations as political tactics.

The report also mentioned that Kejriwal had been put on oral medication for his blood sugar levels and that his sugar and blood pressure were being monitored daily. It further noted that upon his arrival at Tihar Jail, Kejriwal provided a medical history without documentation, stating that he had been taking insulin but had stopped a few months ago based on a doctor’s advice.

Contrary to AAP’s claims, the report clarified that Kejriwal was not denied insulin during treatment and would be provided as required. The AAP leaders rejected the report’s statement regarding Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels and alleged denial of insulin. At the same time, the Delhi BJP chief emphasized the need for appropriate treatment by a panel of doctors from AIIMS.
