One of the wedding guests secretly recorded a lavish Meerut nikah ceremony, revealing elaborate gifts, including ₹2.5 crore in cash.
This Meerut wedding ceremony might seem no different from an Indian marriage, but it has gone viral on social media because it shows how wealth can be displayed lavishly. In a nikah reportedly held at a resort on NH-58, a considerable amount of money and wealth was shared between the bride’s and groom’s families.
The clip has been trending on social media. It shows suitcases full of cash being passed around to a large gathering of men. Some of them gather to see the lavish nature of the presents as the monetary gifts are exchanged.
The bride’s side hands over ₹2.5 crores in cash to the groom’s side while the groom’s side gives ₹11 lacks as part of the Toyota church ritual, a prevalent wedding custom where the bride’s sisters “steal” the groom’s shoes and demand money instead of them. As the video continues, another gift of ₹11 lakh is offered to the maulana, who conducted the nikah ceremony.
