Ministry seeks report on IVF case of slain Punjabi singer’s mother

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has requested the Punjab government to furnish the report associated with the case challenging the technology of IVF. The concerns stemmed from the earlier IVF treatment process undergone by the mother of Sidhu Moosewala’s late singer.

Charan Kaur, the mother of Sidhu Moosewala, became famous as she was able to conceive a child by in vitro fertilisation at the age of 58 on March 9. The baby was delivered and was reported to be a baby boy. Such an anomaly took place after 22 months after Sidhu Moosewala’s brutal killing in India.

While the Ministry of Health has raised its wariness on this example, section 21(g) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021 outlines a woman should be between the ages of 21 to 50 years seeking to do ART procedures, was addressed by the ministry through this letter, which instructs the Punjab Government to investigate and provide a report on the actions taken under the ART (Regulation) Act.

The case turns the focus of attention on the moral values and juridical issues around IVF treatment in old age and groups of older women. Critics think that a statutory cut-off point has been set to guard the lives of both the unborn child and the mother, whereas others are much more flexible and would consider a case-by-case approach.

While that, the father of Sidhu Moosa Wala, Balkaur Singh, thanked Facebook with joy and gratitude, attaching that the new revolutionary in the family is a blessing turned by almighty God. However, he denied similar behaviour on the part of the Punjab government, which said the same thing: the legitimacy of the child should be proved by furnishing the legal documents.

Against the backdrop of the support provided by the health ministry, the Aam Aadmi Party unit under the leadership of Punjab claimed to be active on social media to the criticism of the central government. They provided that the central government placed the query about IVF methods on the Punjab govt, saying.

that instead of the pro-BJP gov, it was the BJP who would respect the sentiments and the dignity of Sikhs.

Despite the continuous debate that arose after the ruling, it is yet to be known as to the type of influence this case will have on the regulations of IVF treatments and the liberties of people seeking fertility assistance.
